The future of artificial intelligence in the context of industrial ecology

Artificial intelligence (AI) applications and digital technologies (DTs) are increasingly present in the daily lives of citizens, cities industries. These developments generate large amounts data enhance analytical capabilities that could benefit industrial ecology (IE) community sustainability research general. With this communication, we would like to address some opportunities, challenges, next steps be undertaken by realm. This article is an adapted summary discussion held experts ecology, AI, during 2021 Industrial Ecology Day conference session titled “The Future Intelligence Context Ecology.” In brief, building on previous studies communications, advise to: (1) create internal committees working groups monitor coordinate AI within outside community; (2) promote ensure transdisciplinary efforts; (3) determine optimal infrastructure governance for IE minimize undesired effects; (4) act effective representation reduction divides.
